What kind of wood is this?

Today was dump day
There is always a huge pile of wood there and I check it out every week
Today was no different. The reg stuff.2x4's,6's,etc.Lots of pressboard crap, old paneling, and then I noticed this.It is a headboard someone threw away.Actually pretty fancy, with turned posts and I thought, plywood.I went to check it out anyway and it actually looked like one piece of wood.Back to the truck to get my trusty cordless sawsall(never leave home with out it
It is solid wood.Even though it kinda looks like a joint in it,you cant see it on the endgrain. Now what you think, cherry?
If nothing else it will make some nice templates, its over 6' long and 16" wide and 3/4 thick

Pear? Could be Cherry.... Could be what they call fruitwood?

Cherry is probably the best bet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was pear with the even coloring like that. Although the boards are pretty wide... Closer pick of the grain might help...

Well after I got it into the shop, they went to great lengths to hide it was a bunch of boards laminated together. All the edges had solid wood glued on and then veneer applied. The good news, the wood was actually maple.
It was nice and flat and so..............
I needed a new set of working templates.Worked great. Was a bit harder routing than mdf but should last a good long time
There is even enough left to make one with humbucker routing
