Antmusic On A Tele

Not their best song but cool that Adam played a tele!

Their album - Kings Of The Wild Frontier - is excellent. One of about 10 others from the '80s that I'd stand up against any classic from the '60s or '70s. The lead guitarist - Marco Pirroni - is shamefully underrated.

Pirroni is an awesome talent and, if you read any of his interviews, hilarious guy. I've been an Adam Ant fan since Kings of the Wild Frontier, which was my first exposure to them way back when. Picasso Visita El Planeta De Los Simios, which is from the Prince Charming album but I didn't "discover" until AntBox for some reason, is one of my all-time favorite songs. I have the album but I didn't remember the song.

That is a great song.

I bought 'Prince Charming' when it came out and I'm ashamed to admit that I believed all the bad reviews it got at the time.

It had been kicking around in my memory for years though so recently I bought/downloaded a copy again (from itunes).

'Prince Charming' is a superb album and I must say the Ants - for such a quintessential '80s band - had very non-80s productions and with Pirroni some very hip guitar sounds (he had that great old Firebird). Their rhythm section was amazing and the drums weren't processed sounding at all. 'Scorpios' is a good example of that. Drums don't sound any better to my ears than they do on that song.

For most people (at least in the U.S.), he's not under-rated, he's UN-rated. Another geezer who slipped into the industry via "punk"--the Ants, Bow Wow Wow, even Sinead O'Conner's debut. Great guitarist.
