duplicolor

krylon changed their formula, and now it hates DEFT
i figured duplicolor would be a better choice...but what type?
anyone have any experience with the stuff?
would it be better to use dupli and the deft, or to try the new krylon and find a different clear coat?

I've used the Dupli-Color Metal Specks Burnt Copper topped with Deft Gloss with good results.

I painted a Les Paul Custom copy with Duplicolor Polar White with a Deft nitro clear coat. No problems at all. The Polar White was in their "Truck, Van and SUV" line, I used it because it was the off- white color I wanted and because it was cheaper than the Auto paint. Sometimes Pep Boys has coupons, those little cans of Duplicolor can be pricey. Walmart has them too, but not as many colors.

I've used Duplicolor products on quite a few projects.

I generally use the Duplicolor primer and clear coat to avoid compatibility issues.

I just got back from Ace Hardware and they had quite a few of the "old" cans in many colors. I picked up 2 cans of candy red which is pretty close to Dakota red. I think that the switch is recent enough where the shelves are still stocked with the older formula. Jwells said to to look for the old style caps and the "dries in 12 minutes" on the cans.
