World's Tallest Building/Structure

Just in case it slipped by you, there is now a new World's Tallest Man-made structure.

It is the Burj Dubai.

Just hit 650 meters with 150 m or so to go.

see it here.

It is a goodly-sized chunk of steel and concrete.

Hey, Bucko, what's an Ioweigan doing counting in Metric? Being from the flatlands of southwestern Kansas, anything taller than a barn is fear inspiring.

I was at the top of the CN Tower a couple of years ago (I think it was the tallest at the time) and you could see Buffalo across the lake.

It won't be long before someone builds one that is 801 meters.

I just had to turn down a 3 week gig in Dubai, because of previous engagement conflicts. I would have loved to gone over and seen that area of the world. It's like the richest country on earth right now.

A school superintendent from here in Connecticut was hired to run a school over there - they paid her such an ungodly amount of money it was worth it for her to take a couple years off and move there...

I wouldn't want to climb that ladder 2100 feet above the ground!

I never even imagined a building that darned high. (Wuzzat...about 2100 feet.)? It almost makes me ill. Great picture, tho!

Is it the world's largest full concert organ? If so, I can't wait to hear Bach's Toccata and Fuge in D-minor on it!

It better sway, because it's sway or break. I surely wouldn't want an office on the top habitable floor.

I cannot imagine it. I've been atop the World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Sears Tower and the Hancock and I just cannot imagine a building as tall as this new one. I think that I would be afraid to ride the elevator in the new tower.

I shot these pics in the Hancock Tower last weekend. We did a long Museum weekend with the kids in Chicago. This is tall enough for me....

all is vanity...

The great thing about Hubris is its ability to self police.

Taller than it is wide?

That speaks to a select audience. Most likely non-Freud reading.

The black one towards the center is the Sears tower (tallest in the US).

Dare I say - Tower of Babel?

That is simply too tall. What is the point?
