Jeff Beck "Blow by Blow"

I searched the 'archives' but couldn't find an old thread on this.
First, this is one of my favorite albums of all time. I bought it when it came out and saw him play on this tour (I was all of ten going on eleven years old--thanks, mom!). It has aged extremely well.
Anyhow, has anyone ever covered what all guitars Jeff Beck used for this album? He is, of course, playing a Les Paul Standard on the cover, but there are certainly Fender tones throughout.

I used to play that record a lot, but for some reason I've never really thought of it as music. What's wrong with me?

I remember going to that concert tour too when I was a kid! My ears were ringing for hours. He played that ox-blood Les Paul and John McLaughlin opened for him. They were going to play together at the end, but people wouldn't quiet down enough, so they just walked offstage and ended the show.

Aaaaarrrrgh!

I was at the San Jose show for that tour and had never seen or heard much Jeff Beck! Well...My mind was blown, Beck is still one of the best ever and this has to be in my top all time 5 LP releases...Ever!! (I still think JB sounds the best with a Tele / Esquire....)

It's been reported, it's been said, Beck's been quoted as saying that 'Cause we've ended as lovers' was all tele (or his old esquire) and dedicated to Roy Buchanan (who was also a tele hero, of course).

'Blow by Blow' changed my life. It was what inspired me to play the guitar.

Hey, El Duderino--that's the show I was at! Unless he was playing there more than one night, we saw the same show that night.

The show I saw was at the Civic Center in Oklahoma City, also with Mahavishnu Orchestra opening. I don't remember if they encored together; guess my junior mind was blown. That was the first time that my ears were ringing and it wasn't the 4th of July.
I'm especially curious what he was using on "She's a Woman." Pretty sure it's the Les Paul, but it could be a Strat, esp. that section where he flips over to the bridge pickup. I have a live vinyl recording from around the time of that tour and the version of "AIR Blower" is way faster than the studio version. Intense.

And let's not forget Phil Chenn, on Bass.

Hands down my favorite Jeff Beck albums and also probably one of my top 10 albums ever. I could listen to it over and over.

Hey! I haven't showed off my autographed pickguard in weeks!

I got to go backstage when he toured with Santana. I also met Terri Bozio.

When I was 20 (good lord...24 years ago) I had a white Ibanez Strat copy and a black Ibanez Les Paul copy as my homage to the covers of Wired and Blow By Blow. I'd love to have that lawsuit Les Paul back.

Beck is amazing.

Found a few scraps on Thee Internets:

1975 Releases George Martin-produced Blow by Blow. Plays ’54 Les Paul and ’70s Strats through Marshall head/Univox cab, with boost and wah pedals. Solo on “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers” played on ’58 Tele w/humbuckers.

Jeff and his guitar tech Andy Roberts often experiment with different necks. 'Jeff's got a lovely old 1960 mustard yellow Strat but it's not the original neck,' says Andy. 'He'll change necks from one guitar to another to see if it performs any better - he usually does it to put on a thicker neck. Another interesting guitar he's got is the dark brown/black Les Paul Standard he used on 'Blow by Blow', serial number 27048. It's been refinished and I suspect it was originally a Gold Top that had the P45s replaced by humbuckers.

Still one of my faves.
Saw him once in DC around '80.
He was amazing.
He got carried away at the end of a tune and threw his strat (light blue, I think)up in the air and didn't catch it properly.
When he picked it up off the stage, he lost his cool and scanned the whole guitar assessing the damage right there onstage!
I was bummed when I read an interview with him where he said he wished he never recorded Blow By Blow...I guess he felt like people wanted him to play like that all the time and not experiment so much.
Can you blame us, Jeff?
That album is amazing.
She's a Woman is gorgeous.

saw jeff beck in concert around '77 ? (some details are a little fuzzy now) - we had seats front and center and had a close up view of one of the best guitarist ever that night - also remember beck glaring furiously at jan hammer every time hammer twisted up the volume on his 'keytar' - hammer was really annoying and we were wondering if blow by blow was going to take on a different meaning that night - still a great concert but it could have been even better minus jan hammer -

- i'm not a complete idiot ... some parts are missing -

Yup. One of the great unsung heroes of the bass clef.
