I think I saw one Tele, and Brad Paisley was playing it. Pretty much guaranteed for that.

It got me wondering who is signing all of these acts? Some of the worst singing I've heard in years!
I think the only teles I saw were Brad Paisley's and Ronnie Dunn.

It was a very sad affair, indeed. No comparison to the CMT show.

I don't watch those shows so I can't comment on them. To make you guys feel a little better, here's a nice clip from The Late Show that features plenty of Tele twang:

95.689% of all Nasville music is BS now!!!!
I did love Brad's reference to Buck Owens though! Did y'all here that well placed note? I wonder how many audience members said to themselves "Who's Buck Owens"?

Honestly, I'm just glad Buck didn't live to see that abomination. God help us if the CMAs are that bad.

Realizing, that the artistis that many of us respect were not part of mainstream country in their day, I have to say this about the current state of country music. It is begining to remind me of the last days of Hairband Arena Rock with power ballads and poppy catchy choruses. The grunge scene came in as a reaction against that kind of music (not that it was much better, and the level of guitar playing tanked), but I think it is only a matter of time until the same thing happens to todays country. I think there will be a reaction against today's country eventually. I did not watch the ACM's so I can't comment on the sound.

I make it a point to miss all of those hand-me-a-trophy shows. For the most part it's a lot of self-congratulatory wankage. Oh, and don't forget to get God in there somewhere...

That reaction has been happening for a long time.... the latest label for it is "Americana".
