Obviously alot depends on who the teacher is. In Dallas, lessons with celebrity-type folks can go for $100 per lesson and higher, and many of them will have waiting lists.
If you don't care about references, experience, or a degree, you can find someone for around $15 per lesson. If you want someone with good references and a degree, prices are in the $50-$60 per hour range. http://dallasguitaracademy.com/#prices |

It varies between £15 - £30 an hour.
I charge £25 for a 45 minute lesson. My competition is mostly younger guitarists who aren't really guitar tutors. They are simply guitarists who have a few students- the usually don't have an established method or curriculum- it is much more of an adhoc teaching style. I don't have too much of a problem with that if their technique is excellent and they are patient and understanding though. When I tell prospective students my price, they sometimes say "That is a little higher that I would like to pay" and I spend a couple of minutes explaining this- sometimes they get it, sometimes not.

$30 to $40 an hour around here.
Most instructors give 1/2 hour lessons. The person I go to charges $10 and hour, but has 3 to 4 people of generally equal capabilities in a group. Actually works out fairly well. |
