What to pay a housesitter?

I'm going to be away for 2.5 weeks in June, and I've got a trustworthy someone staying at my house for the duration. It's a pretty easy gig: feeding the cat, putting the trash out once a week, opening and closing the irrigation gates once a week, and just keeping an eye on things.

I've never had a housesitter before, so I have no idea what to pay her. It's a good deal for her, as she gets away from her sister's screaming kids, but I think I ought to pay her something.

Any advice?

Edit: Oh, and what am I going to be doing during this time? Rafting the Grand Canyon! Yes...

I've always thought of house-sitting as a barter kind of thing. You usually offer it to someone who lives in an apartment, or shares a residence, and would like the opportunity to have a nice house all to him/herself for a while. In return, s/he does the stuff like take out the garbage. So I've always thought that no money is necessary.

Room and board sounds like pay. $100 a week for groceries.

I'm with Califiddler... I usually stock the fridge and pantry with goodies and tell them if anything is off limits foodwise... (maybe the steaks in the freezer or your 100 year old scotch) but, if they have food and a cozy place.. the rest... ain't no thing.
