I had this stuck in my head for a week, once.

Leo Kottke once had the Woody Woodpecker song stuck in his head. He finally exorcized it by learning it backwards, and playing it that way. Apparently that works.

i hadn't wanted to confess to total geezerdom, but i must now reveal the secret that will drive that confounding unwanted song from your head.

the secret is: try to remember Bob Dylan lyrics you always meant to learn down the line. yeah, '60s-70s guys have the edge here, but i know a lot of you younger cats are tuned in too.

my knee-jerk reaction when i get an annoying song/jingle/melody in my head is to start reciting this:::

once upon a time ya dressed so fine, threw the bums a dime, in ya prime, didn't you?

by the time i've realized the futility of remembering all the words, the Captain & Tenille song is erased from my brain. try it, it may work!

Won't work Woody - we do 'Rolling Stone' in our set. It's WAY past that stage.

I absolutely DREAD hearing "Close to You" by The Carpenters. I absolutely HATE the song with a passion, but whenever I hear it, it takes forever to get out of my head. I play the BLUES!
