This isn't music related, but here goes: I brew beer for a living, and my friend's boyfriend-at-the-time told me at a barbecue (at which I supplied the beer) that "wow, your beer is actually pretty good!"

I don't quite know how to categorize this, but I auditioned for a band once, and when I was done, the singer said, "Wow. Your playing kicks ass, but we have... an image. And you're too old."

Worst" My older sister after listening to a CD of mine asked, "Have you thought about vocal lessons". No...

Best: The first time I ever played in front of a live audience was at the age of 20 for about 250 friends. The hottest girl in the crowd jumped up and attacked me while I was playing. I was "quite popular" after that.
Worst: I was playing downtown at a gig, and a patron caught me after the show and said that I wasn't playing the song right. The sad part is, he was right, but that is how the band wanted it played. That maded me reevalaute things, and they reevaluated me right out of the band.

Worst: I had a 10 year old kid use the "play something good" line on me recently at a 40th birthday party. "Good" to this child's fragile egg-shell mind was slipknot. Best (recently): I had a punter come up after a gig who said, "you really throw yourself into your music". I thought that was pretty good. |
