Just the best time! HS Music Schow

As some of you know, I work in a high school.

Last night the music department threw it's annual spring Swing Show.

I was asked to accompany 4 singers.

Four completely different songs.

Stay - the Sugarland song
Jackson - Johnny and June
Me & Charlie Talking - Miranda Lambert
I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

played the first three on a Gallagher flattop.

the last one on a Tacoma Papoose (mandatory Fender content)

drum and bass helped out on Jackson

The kids did absolutely great

15 yr old sang "Stay" and just knocked the crowd out. She could go places.

It was a fantastic night.

Days like that make it all worthwhile!

Our local high school has a great music department, too. I go to see my stepdaughter in various shows there, and I'm amazed at the level of talent that some of these kids have. My meagre abilities pale in comparison.

Buck, that's great! I did something similar last year where I was teaching and know exactly how you feel.

I'm not there anymore, but the teacher who put the show together invited me. I saw about 10 of my old students there, and every one of them has plans for college. It's a rough school, and last year only half of them planned to graduate from high school! They all sought me out to say hi, too, and that's one heck of a good feeling.

I had goosebumps for two days.
