Hullo
Hi. I'm a former member of the old TDP. Nice to be back.
Live in Toronto; nearly 30 years on the local club scene. Don't own a tele currently, but I do have a G&L ASAT special. Also a G&L S500, a Gretsch 6120, a doubleneck Jackson given to me by Jeff Healey, a MIJ Squier, a couple acoustics, a Bogner Shiva (EL34 1-12 with reverb,) a Fender BJ, and various pedals, the only ones of which i use much at all (which is not much) are a T-Rex CompNova and a GE-7. There used to be a real Fender amp guru on the old TDP named Andy Ruhl. Is he still here? |

Hello Rob.
Welcome back. I've hung around here since the TDP too. I'm wondering if I've ever seen you play? I used to hit a lot of clubs here in Toronto in the 70s and 80s: Nickelodeon, Grossman's, Abbey Road, Larry's Hideaway, Colonial, The Edge, Albert's Hall, Horseshoe, George's, Embassy, Chez Moi, and so forth. What bands did you play in .. if you don't mind sharing it with us?

i'm an old TDP'er too -- glad to have you back in the fold! i don't recall seeing Andy around here recently, but there are plenty of savvy amp mavens ... check the Amp Central Station forum.

Very cool. I recognize several of those bands.
I've shared a few beers with Pat Rush which eventually led me to buy one of Jeff's rejected Strats about 10 years ago. It was the first decent Fender product I ever owned. At any rate, good to have you back.

Hello Rob! I'm another old timer, going back to about 97-98 at the old TDP.
I remember Andy Ruhl, and I just did a quick search of our current members list and did not see his name amongst us. I thought he'd been with us since the changeover. Apparently I'm wrong. As you can see, there still quite a few of us old fogies. I'm not sure if I remember you on the old board, but welcome back, and I hope that you stick around for awhile! We're STILL the friendliest place on the 'net!

Hey Rob-
Just wanted to thank you again for what you did for the Healey family. With such little ones in the picture it can not be easy for them. When Jeff died there was a huge thread here with people expressing their condolences. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-c...aley-dies.html Are you familiar with a player named Bill Prosser? Welcome back to the Forum, back bacon and eggs on me! BTW, ASAT's qualify but we need pics, dude.

Andy was in college in Tuscon back then. He left probably in 2000 or maybe even 1999 and started his own amp forum. I haven't seen nor heard about him since.
Welcome back! PS Here's a link to Andy's page... it was last updated in 2001 http://acruhl.freeshell.org/mga/index.html |
