Just wanted to see if anyone replied. :-P
I've always managed to get them out myself. I've known several people who had to get them surgically removed.

I have a recurring one on the big toe of my right foot, comes back every few months.
I just get some nail clippers/scissors and cut it out as far as I can, then pull it out! The longer you leave them, the more it hurts when you fix it.. :( |

I feel your pain. I had an awful one for 6 months I couldnt cut out myself. I had to goto the doctor. I made sure to watch how he did it. I now know how to remove them so they don't continually grow back over and over again. Its painful, and I ussually have a swollen toe for a few weeks, but its magnitudes better than the ingrown toenail. I make a cut about 1/4 way through the toe nail, slice all the way down, and remove with needle nose pliers.

Yeah I had that problem I went to see a foot doctor and basically what he did was remove the sides of toe nail and used something (I forget what it's call) to prevent the toe nail sides from growing again.

Had to go to the hospital back in the 70's to have one pulled out. It was Christmas Eve as well...left the hospital with a numb foot straight into the pub opposite & asked for a large scotch! Half hour later, the anasthetic starts to wear off & I nearly hit the ceiling. Always remember that day..

Yea, me too. And I have my own accounts which I would not gross out fellow TDPRIers. But some folk like gory stuff, the sort of folk that like watching movies where people are getting hacked into pieces with chain saws etc., I am guessing... To each her/his own I guess... |
