Taking of Pelham 123 remake

I see somebody's remaking my favorite movie. Anybody remember the old one?

I saw it on New York channel 11 as a kid. Robert Shaw, Walter Matthau, unbelievable New York cast, great accents everywhere. I don't know how they're going to top it.

"What the hell do they expect for their lousy 35 cents, to live forever?"

I saw that movie when I was a kid - absolutely loved it! I was about to add it to my Netflix queue when I noticed that members can stream the movie for free. I know what I'm watching tonight...

I can't believe someone's doing a remake of it.

The orig was such a perfect cross section of grimy grim 70s NYC, and a great movie to boot.

I liked him in The Survivors because of his line "I've never been called a honkey mo-fo before."

The remakes never seem to be as good as the originals, to me.

The Taking of Pelham 123 was a great movie.

It will take a lot to top the original, it must be the only "really good" film that I've never seen since the first time when it was released.
Oh well wait and see !

Great movie!

Especially Walter Matthau's classic line:

"Hijack a subway? How the hell do you hijack a subway?"

I read the original novel a while before the movie came out and I thought the picture didn't do a bad job at all of capturing the essence of the book. Can't see how a remake could improve on that.

I hadnt heard about this until I saw this thread... For some reason I immediately thought of Will Smith.... please Lord.... " ah hell no" not Will Smith. He isnt in it is he?

Remake Pelham123? A comment on the almost total lack of new ideas in Hollywood.

Original was great. Not sure what more needs to be said.

Maybe ride the wave and have Tommy Lee Jones as the controller

and you know who as one of the baddies...

I just learned this is actually the second remake, there was one for television in the 90s.

Original had a great ending.

Those guys were the models of adulthood to me. They lived over a line that I didn't think I could cross. Not sure I ever did.
