The TDPRI needs to create a separate "Burn" section for folks who like to vent

hehe, funny but its true. You see so many threads on here where there's a lot of "I hate this" or "This is so stupid" kind of stuff. It might not start out that way, but it usually escalates eventually, LOL.

I got the idea while reading the "American Idol" thread.

Oh, i remember also a while back after the Grammy's when Brad Paisley performed and there was a giant controversy on that thread over how good his performance was. It got mighty heated. Set aside a separate section for stuff like that.

We could call it the "Take It Outside" Forum

Whattya think??

Seems like that's what the Bad Dog is lately. I still don't know why it's called Hershey's Bad Dog Cafe though. Why Hershey's? Anybody know?

If you allow animosity between members in one forum, it will infect all the others. People wouldn't be able to leave it at the door when they leave.

Everyone play this song at 7:00PM Central this evening.....

Buffalo Springfield - Smile On Your Brother....let's do it TDPRI....coast to coast.

A
Love is but a song we sing
G
And fear's the way we die
A
You can make the mountains ring
G
Or make the angels cry
A
Though the bird is on the wing
G
And you may not know why

Chorus:

D
C'mon people now
E
Smile on your brother
A
Ev'rybody get together

D E A
Try to love one another right now

Verse 2:

Some will come and some will go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass

repeat chorus, twice

Verse 3:

If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to love and fear
In your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command

repeat chorus, 3 times

... right now, right now

Actually, I disagree.

The atmosphere has gotten far too adversarial lately.

There are dozens of websites for that....away from here.

This forum is for friendly off-topic discussion.

That's as it should be, and how it should stay.

I didn't know Buffalo Springfield recorded this song, or at least I can't find it on any of their records. I've always associated it with The Youngbloods.

Uhhh.

Youngbloods. Jesse Colin Young.

Now, about this idea.

This is where we come to decompress, to get away from all the world's troubles. Discussing and solving problems relating to a subject that will keep us together more than it will tear us apart.
My suspicion is that such a concept if implemented would do less of the former and more of the latter.
I'd just as soon take on the real bassers out there in the big world; I might get lucky and get something done.

I agree and doubt it will ever get more than a seconds thought. I don't know if it's the adversarial tone around here or lack of a band, but I used to come here everyday multi times, sometimes I don't even check it for days. Yeah I know I'm no big loss, but the family feel (brotherly sisterly kinda vibe) has kinda gone, I miss it...

Double uhhh.

Actually the song was recorded by many artists including the Jefferson Airplane, Kingston Trio, Judy Collins, well everybody.

The Youngbloods' version is the most famous because it was used in a U.S. television public service announcement.

The song was written by Chet Powers - better known as Dino Valente, a Greenwich Village folk singer who later became lead singer of the Quicksilver Messenger Service.

The legend, for the longest time, was that Dino was broke after a drug bust and to raise bail money, he sold the publishing rights to the song to Jesse Colin Young. I asked Young about this and it is not true. Well, not 100% true. But we digress . . .

You're right....and yet I searched "Buffalo Smile Brother TAB" and found about 15 versions under Buffalo Springfield.

It's the Cosmic Unconsciousness of Society. I've seen Repo Man many times.....Cosmic Unconsciousness. We've all got the same wrong idea.

Sorry, but I'd have to vote against such an idea.

There must be other websites where folks can vent their ill feelings against others, but I can't see ANY advantage to having one here.

The moderators work their socks off (unpaid, and without much appreciation) as it is, and I think they would be working overtime moving contraversial stuff into such a forum. I think such an idea would be the beginning of the end.

Like getbent wisely says, if you feel that uptight just switch off your PC and take the dog for a walk. There is more than enough ill feeling in the world already, and if things were allowed to get out of hand, many of our wise and helpful members would simply take their knowledge elsewhere.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it....

Just IMHO, as always.

Great movie. I love the "burn barrel" guy.

Yeah, I watch the so-called "experts" on TV and in print ( and blogs ) repeating one another's mistaken statements (actually they're intentional) and it makes me want to escape to...

Here.

Back to Repo Man.

Why is it that the young skinhead in that movie, with the beard looked so unsettling, so Mansonesque at the time when now he's the def fashion trend?

By the way. I have, or have had, gazillions of different recordings by the Buffalo Springfield. I'm not aware that they recorded that song at all.

Dino Valenti again? Man, that guy was everywhere.

If we start calling him Chet, then we gotta call Joe Strummer John, and we gotta call Slash....

OMG, I don't know Slash's given name!
