Cool video: Joe Pass and a Jaguar

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2IDvFRqo04g&feature=related

I heard something about Fender extending their "Classic Player" series to the Jaguar as well as the Jazzmaster. As a result, I started checking out You Tube vids featuring the aforementioned guitars and came up with this Joe Pass footage.

That was really cool. He sure sounds better on a Jag than I ever did on my old '65 (I finally sold mine after coming to grips with the fact that it was the worst sounding Fender electric I'd ever played next to a Coronado. Marty Stuart has expressed similar sentiments).
Joe Pass made an impression on me at an early age. When I was about ten, I went into the big music store where I took lessons and everybody, my teacher included, was in a little room huddled around a stereo, listening to one of Joe's solo albums on Pablo (I remember seeing the black and white cover). His greatness, his touch and tone, struck me even at that age.

Thanks for passing that along. I saw him in Chicago in the 70's, at the Jazz Showcase when it was still downstairs on Rush. Bought my ticket, walking down, look behind me and there he is, schlepping his own Polytone and 175 in right behind me. I sat with my feet on the stage, about 5 feet from him. The Best!

Man, I remember seeing him in San Francisco many years back. Incredible.

That was a treat. I had no idea he played Jags and Jazzmasters early on. Cool.

I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was at music college in the early '80's. Joe Pass in a little lecture room with maybe 25 other guitar players sitting around talking and listening to him play. Fabulous!!
