Right, sorry, I always forget to mention Tom.

And, I don't know how many of you know him but great guitar and mandolin picker Orrin Star is a Maryland guy.

Are the owners still those Afgan brothers ( Abdulah, Hammer and Collette ) ?

It was a magical time for sure, but there's still lots of great music and venues between DC, Balt, Annapolis, and Easton.

Don't live in the past

There is still great music in the DC area. I was at the Sunset Grille
www.thesunsetgrille.com in Annandale VA last Thursday night to see the Thrill Billys. This is Johnny Castles band.

Here are some pics I shot. Hey Redd - Johnny Castle says Hello!

Johnny Castle, David Kitchen, Andy Rutherford and Robbie Magruder are a part of the history of the area music.

Also Tom Principato is scheduled to play the Sunset on the 17th of this month. Check out Toms cover feature article in the new Vintage Guitar. Or his homepage http://www.tomprincipato.com/

I could have met you in Annapolis on Sunday. The weather was fantastic and the crab cakes were delicious. I even picked up a "new" MIM Telecaster in Woodbridge, VA for $120.00 with a set of Noiseless Fender pickups.

Next time I'll plan on a longer visit.

I was in Annapolis on Thursday and Friday, driving a 45-foot coach bus downtown to drop off and pick up a bunch of kids down at the city dock. Those are some major-league skinny little colonial streets!!!

Did you go to Garrett Park Guitars? They had some very nice, very expensive Custom Shop Teles last time I was up there...

Cheers, Tim

You're talking about my boy Demetri!! I was the keyboard player in the Bad Boys (we became 'Flavor' when Columbia Records signed us) and yes, he was and still is a baddass Tele player. After Flavor, he went on to replace the original guitarist in the Frankie Valli & Four Seasons.

An interesting side note - Charlie Daniels (before he was "Charlie Daniels") produced and played bass on "Black Olives". Demetri's guitar work on that tune is so unique. Roy and Danny used to come and watch Demetri play all the time. He was one of the Tele pioneers. Big strong hands, strung up with 12's, straight into a dimed 4x10 tweed Bassman. Tone city!!

Do a Google search for 'Black Olives The Bad Boys' . There are a few mp3's floating around the web.
