New hero for this month: Brian Setzer

I satarted listening to my BSO CDs a couple of months before The new one came out and all i can say is that i apreciate what hes doing so much more now. I never really got into it that much but before but now that whole rockabilly/swing thing really apeals to me. Ive gone back and listened to some of the stray cats stuff and I am yet to find something i dont like. My new guitar hero (for this month).

Gettin In the Mood.

Some of the finest hillbilly flatpicking I've ever heard.

Some vintage Setzer doing a wonderfull rendition of a Cochran number. Lee Rocker is cool to.

Incedentaly, I really want a Gretsch now. If only i had the cash for a 5120...

Wasn't the second clip Wildwood Flower? That's the fastest time I've ever heard it I think. I liked the expression on his face at the end, "That ought to shut those noodlers up".
And the third clip, isn't that a rip-off of Talk Dirty to Me. I'll duck and run for cover now!!!

The second is called 'Guitar Rag'. Its a version of a tune called 'Black Mountain Rag' that Chet used to play.

'Talk Dirty to Me'? As in Poison? Sorry mate. No idea what your on about. The song is 'Something Else' By Eddie Cochran. Any discrepancy here is a result of my ignorance i assure you.

My bad!! Tried to make a funny and it back-fired.That's why I said I'll duck and cover now. Thanx for the heads-up on Chet's stuff. I know who the man is but I'm not familiar with a lot of his music. When I heard Brian playing Black Mountin Rag it hs simularities to Wildwood Flower. Picking around the C/F/G but a lot slower. Sorry if I offended anyone, didn't mean to tread on anyone's toes

IMHO and to my taste Brian Setzer is one of the best guitar players out there.

Still playin' his Hot Licks Video over and over. Can't reach him, well sometimes I'm comin' closer, but still... last time I saw him about one year ago live.... Jeez, this cat is wild, man....

Nobody ever did what he did with the BSO, leading a big band with a guitar.... great!

Cheers!

No no, not at all. Like i said, it was because of ignorance on my part. Glad you like the tunes. He plays that one alot faster than Chet though...
