I've told this story before...

In 1996 I was in Dallas with some friends. We got tickets to see Gov't Mule open for some band that I'd never heard of...."The British Communists" ??? It was at medium-sized warehouse that had been converted into a venue. Only a few hundred people there.

Warren and the boys threw down, no doubt. Then Warren welcomed the next act...."Welcome ...The British Communists.....better known as The Black Crowes".

Last year Warren and the band came through Anaheim, CA ... a very good buddy of mine was tour manager. I got to hang out backstage and meet all the guys - very humble and down-to-earth bunch! Great show, too.

That whole DVD, the Deepest End, is awesome!!!!! I saw the Mule twice last year. In Mobile, AL they played a 4 hour set! From 9pm til 1 in the morning and belted it out.

The really cool thing is you can buy all their concerts in FLAC format on their website. (lossless quality 700 bit-rate as compared to 128 avg. for iTunes)

Perfect Thursday afternoon treat. Thanks

I have a bootleg show with Warren playing a solo acoustic version of U2's tune One. Nothing wrong doing covers when they're done right.

That was excellent - thank you! My favorite Prince song, and what a great integration into the overall piece.

Surprising selection. He came as close to Skynyrdyzing a Prince song as a person could get. It would have killed to have some Duane style slide playing in there.

Love Warren. I see him every chance I get.
The ABB has a roadie (kenny?) Farmer. Looks just like Warren. People are always hollering at him at setup time. "Warren, hey Warren!" He turns around to reveal a shirt reading "I'm not him".
Funny indeed.

Gov't Mule does what most "cover" bands should do. play the cover their way. not copy note for note.

and yes, warren is god
