Anybody else get a weird PM?

Earlier this week I a PM from a member with 0 posts wanting to know if I:

A) Was born in California

B) Have a teenage daughter

C) am about 37 years old

What tipped me over was the "Don't worry, I'm not creepy and scary!" line.

Is somebody searching for their Daddy, or is this a scammer?

That is strange! I did not get it... you might want to forward the username to Paul.

It's not too scary as long as you were born in Minnesota, don't have kids and are 63 years old.

But if you match the specs in the query that would be very unsettling...

I'd guess someone is looking for someone from their past with a name like yours. Could be as simple as an old friend, or something more complicated.

My experience is anyone who says, "Don't worry. I'm not creepy or scary" usually is.

didn't get a PM such as this, but did get a letter several years back from a guy in Oklahoma, wanting to know my DOB, mother's maiden name, city of birth, etc....he gave his name and phone #....not knowing the guy, of course, i was suspicious, so the letter was filed away and forgotten for a while...several months passed and i "found" it again, re-read it, and thought ...why not....????...i would just be sure if i even got in touch with anyone to divulge absolutely no personal info such as SS#, bank info, etc.

i called, he answered....in the course of the conversation, it ended up he was a close friend of my natural father whom i had not seen since i was four years old...this guy had been doing a search for me at my father's request for many years...it ended up my father had been living in Paragould, Ark. for many, many years (less than 300 miles from me.!!!)...with information supplied by the guy from Oklahoma, i called him,and after identifying myself to him set up a meeting at his house, drove myself and wife and son there for a "reunion"...it was very emotional but a sense of closure that cannot be fully expressed...i was also re-united with a brother and sister i had not seen since i was 4 years old, i am now 62, so do the math....

i had several years with my father before he passed away, and we put many things to rest, and put many things behind us....where they belong..

not saying this is the case with the original poster's PM..just passing on my own experience.....sorry for the long ramble here, no way to really condense the story any more than i did here..

For years my girlfriend would pay full price for a music CD, then throw away the art if it had any clowns or monkeys on it. Now she avoids them thru i-tunes.

Would an innocent say 'don't mean to creep you out' or would a scammer?
Depends on his intended target, I guess.
I still can't figure out why the 'victim' always wants so bad to go back in the house/building/creepy place in these slasher films.

Great story! I was adopted and sometimes wonder about stuff like that.

That does seem a bit suspicious. And creepy & scary.

I think Paul could probably do a trace on the IP address this 0 poster is, or was at.

No doubt someone looking for someone found your name here through Google and joined to send you a PM to ask you those questions.

So, they would have zero posts.

My wife collects clowns, she's got about 600 on display in the living room. So, I guess you're not coming over for dinner tonight?
