reliable repair shops or luthiers? a list.
I think it would be a good idea to post the names known good repair shops or luthiers, that you trust. please include town they are in. That way less of us will be taking our instuments to some stranger who may do more harm than good.
I know there are a lot of guitar builders and Techs on this site. Please leave your web address here. Last edited by Guitartom_ca : March 12th, 2008 at 11:50 AM. |

Greg Platzer at BCR Music in Lemoyne, PA.
He's a master at headstock repairs and works on guitars for many big touring acts. He had some Godsmack guitars in over the weekend and does stuff for everyone from Cheap Trick to Supersuckers. |

12th Fret Guitar Shop in Portland, Oregon. These guys are almost 100% repair oriented and do fabulous work on both acoustic and electric instruments. They are perennial favorites in this area and are frequently booked out for several weeks. Not cheap, but they always have my full confidence. Fret and setup work is especially good here.
As a measure of my personal faith in them, when I last bought a new Martin (an HD-28 in 1997) I didn't even take it home. It went straight to 12th Fret for setup and bone nut/saddle. It was going to happen anyway, why wait? Since then they have refretted that guitar and installed a Baggs pickup system, both just perfect. I just recently had my 1982 52RI refretted for the second time at 12th Fret. Wow - what a terrific difference! Great work is found here.
