I re-licked my guitar and now it's worth the same as it was in 1952. Doh!

Until I started hanging around TDPRI I didn't realize the world was so full of these misguided home-made "relics". Someone in a previous thread suggested a waiting period for belt sanders, and that is starting to seem less and less like a joke. My guess is that the first step in this relicing process included the words "here, hold my beer." (Any activity that begins with those words is bound to end badly.)

Come on, this is exactly how I play the guitar. First I strap an orbital sander to my right forearm (my picking arm/hand). Then I put on my sand paper belt buckle (My gift for retirement from the United Sanders of America). I then light my blowtorch, affixed to a mic stand, and place it close for those hot guitar licks. Once I get going, the crowd shows their appreciation by tossing beer bottles at me (those things are worth $.10 in Michigan) and I use my guitar for a shield. So of course you can see that guitar body on ebay looks exactly like all of my guitars, whats the problem?

It's one thing to be the guy who proudly did this to that poor guitar but how in the hell do you explain that it already has 9 bids on it!!!!! The people who are bidding on it are even more f/u'd than the guy who relic'd it!!!

Hey Guitbusy, you may be onto something there.

Use the OS to get the vibration going and the sustain would be amazing - kind of like a low-tech E-Bow. Of course you'd need a bigger amp.

What grade sandpaper works best? Does high-grade wet & dry give more of a violin sound? Does anyone know where I left my medication?

Well...it's not the worst relic I've seen, but it's not the best one either.
