All of this raises an issue of what do you call what Robert Fripp is usually doing? Yeah, he's riffing, but it's not really lead, and it's not really what most people would call rhythm guitar (though it's impeccably rhythmic).
Yeah, you could say "He's laying down a riff" (which is almost too obvious), but is there some other word I'm not thinking of at the moment? |
