Well I take back what I said earlier...we just got hit with over a foot of snow last night. Now if it just would have hit a day later I would have had an extended weekend!

Just a heavy dusting for me in southern Kansas friday, melted saturday thank God. This has been a consistently cold winter here it seems. No days below zero but not many consistent days in the 50's or above either which is unusual too. Seems to snow or ice or both about every weekend since Thanksgiving. No big amounts of snow all winter but what we did get has been hanging around.
In years gone by I've managed to sneak in a little fishing or motorcycle riding even in Jan and Feb but not this year. The 4 walls of my house have really been closing in on me more so this year than any I can remember. I'm not sold on winter being over yet either. |

We got that for about 5 minutes. Then it got very windy and the temp dropped fast. Nat'l Weather Service issued wind alerts for gusts up to 60MPH, the BBQ Grill (heavy iron sides) almost blew off my in-laws' back deck, and when I visited the ER, the guy on the other side of the curtain had gotten himself FUBAR trying to cut a tree off his power lines.

Yeah got stuck on the way home last night, actually, the snowplow got stuck in front of me, had to backup and find another way. Just spent about 4 hours shoveling, and I have a contract for the driveway. dug the doghouses , both were completely buried, made a path for the heating oil delivery guy, cleared the basement windows did the to walking paths to the front door and backyard.
Cleared my deck in the back, now the deck is 12x16 feet, i shoveled it all, its 4 feet above the ground with a 3 feet rail. Now thats 7 feet from the ground to the top of the rail, the snow i shoveled off the deck all through the winter is now 3 feet higher than the rail. I have a Tacoma 4x4, which is pretty high, if i park it on the street i cant see it from the house the snowbank is too high! Oh well! |

yea Long Island got practically no snow this year. Very disappointing, as I love the stuff. Actually the grass is VERY green at the moment. Literally. Think there was maybe a week or two that the grass started to brown, but then it went back to green again.
Gonna be alot of mosquitos and ticks this spring/summer/fall. Don't think there was a frost this winter. The ground never froze. |

We got close to 2 feet here. It took me almost 2 hours to get home from work on Friday (normally it takes less than 30 mins) after picking up my car from the shop. I kept thinking, I just dropped alot of money on this car I better not wreck it now.
Everything was pretty much shut down yesterday. But the roads are clear today and things are getting back to normal. |
