What tuners are on a 2006 Les Paul and a 2007 SG

Hi all,
I know Im in the telecaster forum and not a Gibson one, but I've always found this place more helpful for all things guitars which is why im posting this.

I have a 2006 Les Paul and a 2007 SG.
Im trying to find out what tuners (stock) they have on as Gibson aren't too helpful (they tell me the tuners are the same, yet they're not).

The Les Paul has a shorter tuning post and a rounder casing on the back.

While the SG has longer tuning posts (and a nut) and squarer casing on the back. (I've also notice this is the type of tuners they have in the Flying V and Les Paul studio)

Can anyone tell me what they are?
Im trying to get a set of the Les Pauls because I like the shorter tuning post.

They're actually made by Gibson in their Elgin, IL plant......patterned after the vintage Klusons/Grovers from years past.

I suspect that the perceived difference in post height is actually a function of one headstock being thinner than the other.

I reserve the right to be wrong.

Is that Les Paul a VOS?

The VOS reissue Les Pauls have the rounded Klusons like you have pictured. If you want some you can get the "Historic" tuners, but you usually need to get an adaptor ring from Stew Mac. I prefered the look of the rounded ones and that is what I put on my 335. I have no idea if they are shorter posts or not.

I just checked

I just checked on my 335 and the posts do indeed look shorter. When I was looking for the historic tuners I found them to be very expensive. They were 90 bucks or so on ebay, but I found them at my local GC for 60.

I never knew that Gibson made tuners in Elgin. I have one of those guitars.

I love this place.
