4 (I think) albums and at least 8-10 chart singles here. That was one of their last and, IMHO, one of their worst. Check 'em out, they had some absolutely KILLER stuff

I have no idea how they even produced one hit, yet I love this song.

The Proclaimers: I would walk 500 miles

Another Scotish one hit band

Big Country:

I think the Proclaimers had another hit with "Letter From America", but ironically perhaps not in the USA. "500 Miles" has recently been re-released here in a version featuring a well-known British comedian alongside the Reid twins and was a big hit all over again.

Meanwhile I believe that sadly Stuart Adamson of Big Country is no longer with us. I quite enjoyed their stuff back in the day.

Yeah. By the time of "I Touch Myself," I don't think the were really even a much of a band. And that tune was written by outside hot-songwriters-of-the-moment Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly.

My favorite Divinyls song is "Boys in Town" from their 1983 album "Desperate."

What about the Aussie band Dragon that had a minor U.S. hit in 1985 with "Rain." It took me years to track down a CD copy of the album that spawned it ("Body and the Beat"). I finally found a German pressing of it over the internet at record store in Colorado.

...archetypally...

..."Signs"---the "Five Man Electrical Band"
...considering an earlier poster mentioned the "Starbuck" tune, and the "Starland Vocal Band",I'm wondering if that poster was looking at the Joel Whitburn compiled "Billboard Book of Top 40 Hit's",as those two bands are on the same page in the book...I recently met John Carroll, one of the members of the "Starland Vocal Band"...
..."Hey Girl"---Freddie Scott (a fave, and his later recording of "Are You Lonely For Me",although not a hit,is very cool)...
...did someone mention "Little Girl" by the "Syndicate of Sound"???..."little girl,it's all over for you,Ha,Ha,Ha!!!"...
..."Primrose Lane"---Jerry Wallace (for some unknown reason, this song's been in my head recently)...

...oh,I might add the "Cyrkle" had a second tune called "Turn Down Day" that reached # 16 on the charts, just 2 months after "Red Rubber Ball"...I heard them at Candlestick Park as one of the openers for the Beatles' last concert...there wasn't much screaming going on for them...

Well, I suppose technically you are correct from a Top 40 point of view, but I sure have heard quite a few other Dead tunes on the radio over the course of their 30+ years.

Hey, good call Skully!!

I was lucky enough to do some supports with Dragon in '86, when their guitarist was......Tommy Emmanuel!! What a gentleman... and I'm NOT being sarcastic.

Here's one of my favourites.

I always though a OHW was a band that had a hit, then you never really hear of them again. A few of the names on this thread don't seem to fall into that interpretation, but it's all good I guess...

It shows how wide the Atlantic really is. In the UK Trex were massive and had ten top ten singles including four number ones over a period of three years between 1970 and 1973.

Wow, that's right; I forgot about Turn Down Day.

More favorites: Crow - Evil Woman and Every Mother's Son - Come on Down to My Boat Baby.

Also, from psychedelia:
The Lemon Pipers - Green Tamborine.
The Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermints.
