Finally! Put the Hipshot on the Asat!!
Well, I received the (used) Hipshot last Saturday and finally put it on today! Although I was advised to drill holes in the Asat bridge (higher than the holes already there), I decided to try using existing holes. Put the teflon tube in and used Lubriplate on the saddle, nut, and string tree. Very smooth! So far no problems returning to pitch, etc. I think I'll see how this works out before drilling additional holes in the bridge. I can see it's gonna take some gettin used to...last bender I had was a Glaser, which I loved and had to part with along with several other great guitars at a time of "monetary distress" as they say on Wall Street. One question for all of you journeymen....do you just get used to the "tap" on the base plate when bending and then when returning? I was thinking of maybe putting a small piece of electrical tape under the lever where it hits. I guess this could mess with the pitch ....Hopefully, it doesn't transfer through the amp when plugged in.
Anyway, I'm stoked! |

You can put something under the Hipshot arm screw if you like, just turn the fine tuner on the arm to compensate. But for some reason I've never had a problem with the "tap".
I have an ASAT special with the Hipshot just going thru the existing string hole and it works fine as long as everything stays lubricated.

It's really incredible to be able to post these questions and observations and get feedback from one of the best. Many thanks. |
