Depends what kind. The Parsons-White type I think are around $350 + a whole lot of installation. The hipshot is like $150 through stewmac and you install it in a couple minutes with a screwdriver. Will Ray (helleman) gets a whole lot out of one of these, so I'd say they're worth a shot. You can always re-sell them for nearly what you paid.

A Hipshot is a good place to start if you've never used one, or are on the fence about benders. You don't have to hack up a nice guitar, and they are definately the most cost-effective! By the way a P/W is more like $600-$1100 depending on who puts it in for you. A Glaser is around $600. A P/G is maybe a little less(I think).
Listen to some of The Hellecasters, or Will Ray's solo stuff(Invisable Birds, Mojo Blues...) to get an idea what a $150 bender will do in the right hands! It ain't the meat, it's the motion!!!!!!!!

the price is around 600 for installation

IMO, the bigger price is what its going to do to your technique and how much overkill you are going endore for spending $600 on a mechanical ring finger that you could do without

dig deep into the roots of some players that don't use one and sound just as if not better! one commercial player would be VInce Gill

What kind do you want?

Entry level on Ebay $50 - $100 for a hipshot - hip activated
Tremor Bender - $150 - $200 range - pinky finger pull
Parsons Green (fender bender) - YOU INSTALL - strap pull - $350 - $400
Gene installs the original P/W for $950 - complete
Billy Warford - strap pull - $500 installed in your guitar
I'm doing loaded bodies for $500 - no neck - my bender

Very good point CLAZ! Just because you got one, doesn't mean you have to use it! "quote from bender 101"
