Bridge : Fender hot vintage from my HW1 texas
Middle : Stock, with added phaseswitch for those "Johnny Cash @ San Quentin" type sounds ! :-)
Neck : SD five two

I tried a SD Broadcaster in the bridge pos., but that got far to bright for me ...

Edit : Forgot to mention that I've wired the bridge and the neck pickups as a "normal" telecaster with a three way switch, and the middle pickup using a separate three way "mini toggle switch" (in phase - off - out of phase)

I know this sounds "old", but replacing the bridge will do wonders with the sound & the feel of the Nashville Bender ! Callaham or Glendale !

My Nashville Bender with a Glendale bridge w stainless steel saddles.

I am partial to SD's in mine.

I rotate either Antiquity II, Alnico II pro, or 54.

Both Callaham and Glendale have bridge for the American Standard Tele !
Glendale : Glendale bridge

Saddles are available in all sorts of interesting materials, including brass : Glendale saddles

The only thing You have to do is to drill a hole/cut a "notch" in the bridge for the B-string !

And the same goes Callaham ! Callaham

And please don't ask which one is better ! Based on a number of 'Callaham vs Glendale' discussions the conclusion is that they're both better ...

I guess I'm spoiled....

I've never replaced a pickup on a G&L. I like the Z coils, large MFD's and S-500 PU's the best. But all of them sound good to me. And I'm not saying that because I'm an endorsee.

I know I stand the chance of people throwing things at me for saying this, but the longer I play guitar, the less stock I put in the importance of guitar pickups. As long as the PU isn't microphonic or defective (breaks in the coil somewhere) then I'm a happy camper. Sure, I like quiet PU's too, that's why I use Z coils. But I'll adjust to any situation.

I feel like you could set me down on a desert island with any guitar or pickup combination with a decent amp or POD, and as long as it had a B-Bender on the guitar, I'd be able to adjust and still get "my sound".

IMHO, with all the cool amps and effects out there, any guitar can sound good these days.

OK, you can start throwing things now.

I agree with Will. I've never spent any time or money changing pickups...with the exception of replacing after market pickups that were in one of my old asats I purchased, with the "right" original pickups I found on ebay.

I remember an old article I read about a guitar thing where Albert Lee and Eddie Van Halen jamed together at some event. At some point, Eddie wanted to try out Alberts rig, and Albert played Eddies. The upshot was, Albert still sounded like Albert, and Eddie sounded like Eddie.....

Now amps and accessories, that's another story!

I am slowly coming to agree with you on this. I have spent the last 20 years always searching for that elusive dream tone. I have always changed pickups to aid in that search. A few months ago I put the stock bridge back in my Tele and have been experimenting with boutique effect pedals (as well as less effect pedals) and some higher quality amps from Mesa boogie and Dr Z. I find I'm much closer to the tones I've yearned for than changing pickups. About the only pickup I may experiment with just out of curiosity are the Kinmans. Other than that I may just stay stock.

on my Fender Nashville Bender, 1 month ago I put the Callaham bridge (my Callaham vs. Glendale choice was very simple because Glendale was out of stock), criogenic FRALIN pu's from Callaham, and a hot Seymour Duncan in the middle.
Big improvement in sound, sustain and tone. Strongly suggested...

On Tele Bender 2 P/W by Bill Bores I have haeussel pu's, kind of euro Bardens, very hot..

Tele Bender 3 P/W #83 Rice Custom is on the way, with Lollar pu's,

I have a Fender Hamel-era broadcaster pickup which came with 90's Nashvilles in the bridge and a custom wound OC Duff in the neck which was orignially a TS (A5) which has been wound with Strat neck pickup specs.

My Dbl Bndr guitar is a Dano Guitarlin. Lots and lots of frets for Hugheyland, and a Dano in the neck slot, and , surprisingly, a Dano in the bridge slot.

Van Zandt true vintage in neck and bridge, mine was originally a 2 pickup 99 Parsons Green, the guy before me routed it out and put in 2 custom shop strats and left the original bridge. I played it a while but just didn't ever sound like a true tele, I bought the Van Zandt in the bridge off a guy who claims it was and old one wound by George Van Zandt before he died, if you know anything about that, I'm just your basic old bar room player, but I love the thing.
