Fender's nashville B-bender discontinued?
I've been checkin out Fender guitars around the interweb and a lot of places are listin the nashville b-bender as discontinued. Fender's website don't say nuthin bout it, but then again....I don't think that thing is nescessarily up to date neither.
Anyone got any word on this? I'd hate to see em go even if they wern't big sellers for Fender. |

According to the Fender rep that services the store I do business with, the Nashville B Bender is not a money maker due to production costs and limited demand. Consider for the going price of $1099 - $1199 (street cost), you get an American tele ($960 - $980 street), an extra Texas Special strat pickup ($25 street), a Fender P/G Chrome B Bender (estimated $400 plus), and the installation/body rout (estimated $125 extra in factory setup and labor). That total comes to $1510 on the very low end of the street spectrum. It seems that Fender only makes a short run of these every once in a while. After the production run has dried up, you are out of luck until they decide (if ever) to run another. I preordered and waited 8 months before this last production run for mine.

Fender's nashville B-bender discontinued?
Quote:
But You can still buy a "Deluxe Nashville Telecaster" and then send it over to Charlie McVay and have a B bender installed for $600.00 There's also the option of getting a G and B bender installed. (Tele + McVay) = ($785.70+$600.00) = $1385.70 The American Nashville B-bender is $1656.99 Check out: http://mcvaybenders.com/ |

The cost of an American Nashville B-bender is $1099 - $1199 on the street. I bought mine for $1100. My point was that it is the cheapest new internal B Bender on the market and Fender doesn't make any money on them. Therefore, they don't stay in the catalog long. Also, don't forget to add $100 postage for your $1385 McVay to get there and back for conversion.

I have a deluxe nashville as well as the nashville b-bender....and to be honest, they are not the same guitar to me. I've even tried the same pups in the deluxe as whats in the b-bender and it was still a night and day difference between the two....all IMHO or coarse.
Since they're my favorite guitar, I'm really wanting to order another one while I still can. Unfortunatley, the Mrs. doesn't really dig the idea that much and said no. Having limited options on hand that won't result in a chilly bedroom, I decided to tell my 5 year old that daddy wants a new guitar and set her loose buggin mom and dancing and singing about it all through the house. I may decide to up the ante a little tonite and tell the kid that if she gets mom to say 'yes'....I'll buy her a new toy. |

Mine weighs 9.5 lbs with the addition of Fender locking tuners. In comparison, my 2005 50's blond tele with a P/W long throw is also 9.5 lbs. Both weights were taken off a digital scale. The guitars sound very different - with and without utilizing the bender.

Hey, I'm ok if they drop production of the Am B bender.
Hold onto one if you have it. I bought mine off the shelf from a GC 5 years ago. No one there knew how to use/tune the B bender. Now its my #2 guitar, over my 1983 Gibson 335 ES. But... soon some hotshot will make a hit sing with a B bender, and they'll start up production again. |

Hmmm...maybe it has, in a way, well sort of. I bought a Hipshot for my Tele and am having a lot of fun with it and I do like Paisley's playing. Mark

My 2000 Les Paul Classic weighs 10.1 lbs vs 9.5 lbs for the benders. I don't know why, but I can play the benders all night long and not have a problem. About 30 minutes with Lester and I'm ready to put it in its case...wide strap and all.
