Parsons-White G-Bender adjustment
Hello all. Long-time lurker, first time poster... Just got a P/W double bender for Christmas. Fun! It's used and there is some slack in the cable for the G bender. Is this normal or should it be adjusted so there is no slack? Hope that made sense. Thanks in advance for the assist. Good to be here. Neil

Welcome Neil! I'm sorry it took so long for a response too! Sounds like you got a real nice present. Did you just aquire the guitar, or have the double bender installed in one of your own? The reason I ask is, if you know it is installed by Gene Parsons, or is one of his benders, ask him about this - www.stringbender.com - .Gene is very knowledgeble, and helpful with any issues about his stuff. If it is not an actual Parsons, you could ask Bill Bores, who installs P/W style benders, and is a great guy who would help anyone with a question. Not to mention, he definately knows his stuff about these benders too! I own a few B Benders, but don't have a clue about G Benders, or I would help you personally. I hope you enjoy your guitar, and again welcome man.
Harry

Thanks all. The benders were already in the guitar. It is one of the somewhat infamous Jonathan Rose guitars. It's a 1995 with Van Zandt strat pickups and a Van Zandt tele in the bridge. It's a Parson's but installed by Rose. Gigged it last night and it performed really well. I think I'm going to leave the little bit of slack in the G for now. Didn't seem to affect the playability at all. Have to tighten up the B spring though as it is just a tiny touch too soft. "accidental" bends not often good....
If anyone has any more information on the Rose guitars or have opinions of them, I'd be interested. |
