The best saddle for a b bender is one that is hard enough from not being cut from the b string and has minimal side to side slippage...Since the string angle is shallower than the other strings and has a tendency to slip around. The only saddle that I know of that fits that criteria is the one that Fender supplies on their 69 Thinline Re-ISsue.. Steel saddle with a single groove. Steel threaded saddles work too, but I have found that the tone is thinner.

That said...you can use brass if you keep it lubricated and don't mind changing out (or flipping over) the saddle when the narrow groove that gets cut from the b string gets too deep..

I use the Glendale hardened steel on mine. For the b-string, I used a dremel cutting disc to cut a shallow groove into the saddle, as that string would tend to move around on the saddle during manual, finger bends - and make contact with the adjustment screw, deadening the string tone. After cutting the groove, I used a wire brush attachment to de-burr it, and it worked like a charm. Was pretty hard cutting into that steel, but got the groove I needed after some work.

I like the glendale hardened steel for benders, although I have the glendale brass on one bender, and it's holding up fine. I don't care for the parson-green though. I like a P-W (or P-W style clone).

I think that if you're going to all the trouble of installing a parsons bender you should consider a parsons/white, as for the bridge glendale would be my choice. JMO, Bil

You could just use what Clarence White used since he invented the style and co-invented the mechanism...

Thanks!!!!

Also, to the thread - I just use the stock bridges and saddles on my tele and asat benders! Good luck with the build.
The fun is in the playin!

I'll have to jump on board with the guys who are talkin' P/W! I have a few different benders, and use brass, graphite, and steel saddles(not all on one guitar, of course) with great luck. Good luck with your search!

I love the look of that guitar! I have seen Marty 3 times here in Norway. Hes amazing.. A friend og mine talked to his guitar-tech, and had the chance to look at guitar. He was told that the first time they opend the guitar, they found a little piece with LSD inside.. hehe. Great story :)
