G/B-Benders

I was wondering if it's possible to install a G/B-Bender in a solid body Tele if it doesn't have one already. I've never been told this before. Is it possible, or will it compromise the sound quality of the guitar?

If it is possible, how much would it cost to do so? I'm not necessarily thinking of putting in a G-Bender, just wondering how much it would cost.

Cheers,
Joel

I think the price starts somewhere in the ballpark of 8 bills for the double bender

oh ya, and I think it does compromise the tone of the instrument, the PW design does anyway, but I am sure people will argue that with me. YMMV

I think I should clarify

I didn't mean a double bender, I just meant a G or a B bender. Not both.
Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't even aware that you could put both on one guitar.

Also, what you mean by 8 bills? Sorry, I'm very naive.

Thanks again,
Joel

hey joel, good to hear you are interested in a bender. I am, i just don't have the money. Some guy on here called Brian F did a parsons/white for Nick G (a good buddy of mine) and he is very happy with the result. Most guitars with benders never came with them to start off, in fact i woul dnot reccomend the teles with pre-installed benders. I know it cost Nick £400 (700) but that included shipping his guitar from england. So i think you will be looking at around $500-600 for a full installation. best of luck!

Hey Sol,

I'm not really looking into getting a bender (maybe in the future when I think I might actually use it). I just think they're cool and wanted to learn more about them.

What about you? You interested in getting one?
I can imagine with your talent you could make good use of one. Maybe in the future I'll get one, or at least a guitar that has one.

Keep on pickin',
Joel

You can buy the kit and plans for a double bender at Stuart McDonald
but best to give it to a good luthier. Sound quality should be fine. Just liten to Jimmy Olander of Diamond Rio. No problems !
