Adding to Hipshot
Hello Twangsters
I bought a new Hipshot with the B bender only. I want to try the G bender also. Can I simply buy one of the bender extension arms that I see advertised now as a replacement part and add that to use with my G string? Or, do I have to sell this one and buy one that comes with the B and G bender? Thanks |

From my own experience you can add.....BUT....
before you do, make sure that the HipShot unit has a screw coming through the bottom of the unit directly into the cross rod that the B bending piece is riding on.......... I got one of the first HipShots in the early eighties and decided to add the G bender so I ordered one and when it came in I just slid the rod out and slid the G bender piece right on it and cinched everthing down. Then added a new G string, tuned 'er up and went directly to my nightime gig. I noticed that when I'd use the B-bender the sound wasn't quite in tune..........
What was happening was that when I'd engage the B bender, the cross rod would flex and the G string would go flat. What you have to do is stabelize the cross rod so it won't flex. I did it by wedging a block under it right next to the G bender. HipShot now does the screw through the back into the rod thing now on the units ordered with both B and G benders but I'm not sure if they do it on a B Bender only unit. Remember, if they don't and you don't stabelize the cross rod and add the G bender, it will not play in tune........JH in VA.
