Bender Identification

Hey,

I am new to the forum and to b-benders. I have always wanted to get one, but never followed up on it. Yesterday the local music shop had a American Deluxe Tele with a b-bender. The bender is a finger that presses the string up. It is actuated by a lever near where the neck attaches to the body.

Any idea what type of bender this is? If so is it a good one and would $1,100 be a good price for the guitar if it is in VG condition?

Thanks!

No way to tell who manufactured that bender, but it sounds like you are describing a "Glaser" type as opposed to a Parsons/White or Parsons/Green type.
If the guitar is definitely American made it's probably worth the money, but it sounds to me like you need alot more information on it before you part with your money. You need a friend with more knowledge to look at it, or take some pics and post them here so the experts here can give you some advice. If you can't get pics at least post serial # and location.

DblStop you're right! I managed to identify it after all...it is a Glaser.

The guitar is fairly modified for this unit adjustment screws at both ends of the body, etc... but it looks to have been done well.

Are Glasers typically reliable units?

Glasers are very reliable if everything is in good shape.

I have one of Glaser's B Benders in my main Tele and it's been wonderful no problems at all.He put the bender in there back in the early 90's and had it back to me in about a month,I understand he's got a pretty long waiting list now lol!!I think you'll enjoy the Glaser a lot,I'm still digging mine after all these years.Happy Bending my friend!!

Hey,

Just to bring closure to this thread... I bought the guitar and I am having a blast with it. It's my first Tele -- and b-bender.
