Encountering some drag

I'm playing a P/W equipped tele. Recently I've noticed that since I wear it pretty high (and am a little bigger around than I should be), the strap's pull is not just up on the lever, but back as well. More to the point, the lever is now rubbing up against the back edge of the slot through which it passes before hooking up to the strap. So if I bend at the waist and push the guitar straight down, it bends nice and easy. But if I try to throw a bend standing normally, I get a lot of drag from the slot edge.

Has anybody else encountered this? Is there an easy fix?
