Turning a P/Green Bender into a G Bender
Wonder if I could:
1. Drill a hole in the back of bridgeplate at the G string (would be next to the B hole) so the G string could go through the bottom surface of the bridge. 2. Imbed a small, rounded and smooth metal spindle (post) into the wood of the guitar mid-way between the round hole where the string comes through the top of the guitar and the hole in the bridge below the G string. 3. String the B string in the bridge as a normal B string would be on a regular guitar (not through the bender mechanism 4. Run the G string through the bender mechanism, divert the string around the spindle mechanism and up into the new hole in the bridge. 5. Replace the G saddle h the B saddle which has the open end. B string now uses the G string saddle. Now, when I engage the bender it should pull the G. right? It would be puling it around the spindle but I think it would it pull clean? this way I could always go back to the B bender setup by exchaning out the saddles again and not going around the spindle. Anyone ever done this? I am sure someone must have. |

Anything that you do that lengthens the string between the bender tower itself and a bridge saddle will affect the bent pitch of the note. The best way to do what you want would be to actually move the bender tower over on the pg back plate so that it poisitioned for the g string instead of b string. Then what need to do is shorten the connecting rod by the correct amount. That would mean that you would need a new body to drill out though. I guess not much help
