Where can I buy Bigsby Palm Benders?
I am putting together my first partscaster and I would like to put some Palm benders on it.
I know Hip Shot has them but I am interested in picking up the Bigsby Palm Benders. Anybody know where they can be bought? Thankx.-g

Quite often, you'll see them on Ebay.

Try Dan at:
dbalde@eclipse.net with "Bigsby Palm Pedals" in the subject line.... ...might work, but Dan has not exactly been too talkative in recent times ![]() ..if all you are after is a 'standard' two pedal layout, they do come up on eBay reasonably often. Cheers from 33C Adelaide!

Check out this site, they are selling the QuickBender, which seems to be inspired by the Bigsby Palm Pedal. Benderguitars

Gary, a friend of mine...........
in Las Vegas (Al Bruno) who's a master of the Bigsby Palm Pedal device wanted to add one to his Telecaster. He'd had a set on his Gibson ES-345 since they came out (He had Boomer's prototype unit). He wanted a bender on his Tele but wanted to stay with the Bigsby type as that was what he was used to. He ordered a set with the "fold away" levers and has had nothing but trouble with them. The levers keep loosening up and won't work as they're supposed to. The trouble with Bigsby P/P units is that there's not enough body on the guitar behind the bridge for them to operate properly as the levers stick over the bridge quite a bit thereby eliminating the option of doing palm muting which is a standard technique for most players.
In the seventies I installed a set of BPP on Nokie Edwards' (Ventures lead guitarist) Telecaster. What I did was cut off the levers and stagger the heights of them so you could operate the B lever without engaging the G lever or you could slide your hand beside it to activate the G lever. It worked out pretty well as I remember..... I actually took two sets of palm pedals and made one 4 lever unit with it....... On one of my Strats I have a set of HipShot benders, both B & G and I had to screw the unit into the face of the guitar to keep the G string from going flat when I used the B lever.........JH in Va.

If you can get your hands on one of these, they are much sturdier and more modern in design than the Bigsby Palm Pedal. Be sure to scroll down the page to the videos. They really show what this bridge is all about. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any to buy in the USA. Maybe on ebay? Nostrovia!

GET BENT I'm glad to hear that Bigsby Palm Pedals can still be purchased because I would like to try them out in the future on a guitar.
And Greg Seaman I have been looking at that Dusenberg bender as well to. I havn't seen anyone put one on a Telecaster yet. I don't really want to put it on my Strat because then I can't use the whammy bar. |
