Hickory Wind

I just figured out the intro as Clarence plays it on the Darby 1973 audience recording...one of the shows he did with Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, etc....there are a couple of moves there on other than the b string...for shifting the chord shapes...that I hadnt figured out before...pretty neat...I like finding that stuff...

No..I'm not gonna tab it out. Its pretty simple and you'll do just as well working it out on your own...

I believe Don's talking bout the 6/5/73 Tower Theater Upper Darby, PA show where Warner Bros put together the famous 3 show "pilot" tour where Clarence and Gram came to verbal blows.
Clarence toured with the Kentucky Colonels and played with Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. So backing Gram and EmmyLou were: Byron Berline, CW, Gene Parsons, Chris Ethridge, and Sneaky Pete.
.
The recording is pretty basic even for the time. It can be found here:

Here's the setlist:

I looked for the link to the show..its the Tower theater, Darby PA, 1973..but was not able to find it...I see Phil did tho...Thanks!

Heres the Hickory Wind cut...it was a recording from the audience so the quality is not the best. I will leave this up for a few days...until my wife decides to unload some more stuff on the 'bay and needs the server space for her photos....

This is probabally not going to knock anyone's socks off...and other players may go "huh? what so special about that"...we do, as bender heads tend to labor away in isolation (like I figure Im the best stringbender player in town...not because I'm any good, but because Im the only stringbender player in town...)...one players "ah-ha" moment can be anothers "so what"...and this little lick had some "ah-ha" for me...

I hear ya- we benders can appreciate how cool this intro is. Just out of curiosity, I wonder if they were playing in Ab or did they tune down?

I'm playing this by barring the Bb/Eb with my pinky for the bend and release, playing the single note with my index finger, then moving the figure down the neck for the next phrase.

Somewhere on some website that I cannot for the life of me find, somebody cleaned up all these tracks and adjusted the speed so they're true and in tune. Anybody save that link?!
