Around 1998-9.

Roomer was that poplar was easier for all the cutting need for the bender and the 3rd pup. Alder prices started to go up too.

The original American Standards from 95-98 were alder with the added Parsons/Greene Bender. These are all the two pickup versions. In 99-Present they became the Nashville B-Bender Tele with three pickups and in poplar. They haven't been the most popular and Fender has discontinued them for short periods of time but I think as long as they have the benders in stock, they'll probably continue to make them.

Mine's a 1998, right off the wall at GC. It was not called a 'Nashville' then... just a regular Fended B-Bender American Standard.
Like a jerk, I sanded off the 3 color sunburst finish and re-did it with RERANCH paints & stuff. Then I ordered a bridge from Glendale and loaded her with Mr. BL's pups.
Anyways, according to the hangtags then, in 1998 it was a poplar body.
