Thats a good clip...my wife gets into her "Glen Frey...oh daddy" mode when she sees it....the 16 year old Fairbanks girl comes out....

Theres an Eagles fan website..the URL escapes me that has a bunch of clips from that era...with Bernie and his Evans bender all over the place...

Theres also some stuff there from the "Sessions at W 57th" tribute to Gram Parsons..Bernie was lead guitar for the houseband...there was a great version of "Wheels" with Jim Lauderdale and Chris Hillman...and Bernie on guitar...

this is the song that made me want a bender in the first place , funny though i cant play the solo with the bender only with out it , yet use the bender for chord structure and fills during song . great tone on original version
but i think this was from old grey whistle test and he has a tinny buzzy sound most of the time.

I guess what really stuck me about this clip (besides it's really good ) is how Bernie incorporates the bender. In the start of the song, he uses it to build flow and body, then moves into the solo, then the bender disappears as the vocals and harmony build to the end. Bender players notice the bender immediately, but; the average listener notices the smooth fluid flow of this song that has made it such a standard. Versions of this song that the Eagle's play now without the bender just doesn’t get this effect for me.

Notice the pickup switch from neck to bridge... for the second part of the solo, you can hear the click!!
Also, Getbent;...I remember them on Mike Douglas doing Tequila Sunrise, and Bernie using the phase shifter....seemed to work well with the bender.

I found a few other clips from this same show and they're just KILLING it - it's amazing how good they all were live. It's one thing to record those tunes and get a good sound with studio wizardry and whatnot, but the fact they were able to nail these tunes live... *whew*

So good.

No studio wizardry in the track I posted. Just two guys paying tribute to a great band by playing the parts and yes, they were great live..

Oops - I didn't mean YOU GUYS when I said "studio wizardry" - I was talking about how it would have been easy for the Eagles to take the easy way out in the studio by using production techniques - the live clip shows this is just not the case - they had the talent!

Y'all's cover is great - the vocals are steel playing in particular are really good. Sorry; I didn't make myself clear there.
