Here's my "Clarence"

Marty signed my "Clarence" on the headstock and the rest of the band signed it on the back masonite cover. It has the long throw bender (stringbender innovations), double body and E string banjo tuners. It has a duncan broadcaster bridge pickup and a left hand stagger strat pickup. Reverse control plate w/a 4 way and 6105 frets and a US Custom birdseye neck with a tinted nitro finish. Marty and Kenny loved it!

More Pics of my Clarence

This is what the guitar looked like about a year ago. I have since aged it a little better and had the signatures added at Charlotte Michigan.

AWESOME! What was Marty's reaction when he saw it? Who did the bender install? Man, I'd love for mine to be like that.....but....that'd probably be hard to do with a paisley tele....*sigh*

Speakin' of Marty himself, does anyone know if he is/was aware of the wonderful work of Mike Nihen and his CW clone teles before Mike went out of business and what his thoughts are/were? Just somethin' I've wondered about recently.

Oh...I had a very vivid dream (and I know it's gonna be just a dream and that it won't really ever happen) that Marty actually let me play 'Clarence' onstage for Irons upcoming gig in Hiawassee, GA opening for him.....how freaky is that??

The B string comes out a slot under the plate

That must be a pain when you have to change the b string.

On the stringpull guitars, the hub protrudes thru the aluminum plate behind the bridge...and its a pain to change the b string...

The bender is mounted coventionally in the "top" tele body...the second body(more like 2/3s of a body) is a rim...like the original guitar..without the innerds mounted on the back

Hey Mike..thanks for the offer....I have developed a system for getting the ball end out of the bender hub. Not something one would want to do on the fly but lowers the pain factor...I thought about removing the plate and filing it a bit but decided against it....

I saw Marty & Kenny (killer player, nice guy) at a "master class" at the Kennedy Center 2 yrs. ago and Marty let one of the students play "Clarence" plugged in.

Marty's a treasure, he was nice enough to let me get a pic w/ him & "Clarence" even though I knew he wanted to get to dinner... it's a treasured photo. We'll be seeing him again on July 5 and I may bring my just-completed Bill Crook b-bender tribute to Clarence for him to sign (not a copy, just based-on: 3 tone burst/tortoise guard (tho w/ a rosewood board).

Just for comparison, a pic of Nashville West #0001:

Yeah, Marty has the original bender...but *I* have the black-hat Nudie sticker!

I'm just glad he PLAYS the thing instead of letting it rot in some Hard Rock Cafe. Just saw him live last night for the first time. That axe is most certainly in the right hands.

A dream will come true for me tomorrow when I'll get to (along with the band I"m in as lead guitarist--Irons In The Fire) opens two shows for Marty at the Anderson Music Hall in Hiawassee, GA at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. I hope tomorrow goes by so very slow!! I've got my camera ready to take pics and I'm hoping I can get him to sign my paisley tele this time with a pen/sharpie where the signature won't fade like last time.
