Model Lacquers, OK for guitars?

Hi, First Post. I've been researching here for a while trying to decide on a finish for a guitar I am building.

I found some products that say they are lacquer (not nitro) that are used to build scale models. Some of the colors are very intriguing for what I want to do. They go a step further than Fender did into the automotive finishing genre.

The Testors Model Masters lacquer product line reproduces the classic GM / Mopar colors! Could be very cool on a guitar:

These are a more modern take on automotive finishes:

This hobby site says they can be used on wood

Do you think these products are OK to use on an guitar both short and long term?

I realize the cans are small, but I can deal with that.

Thanks!

I recall most of those are acrylic lacquer.

Unless you find them at cost somewhere (the markup is astonishing) those baby cans will bankrupt you.

I have two 12-13 ounce rattle cans of a color on hand for one guitar body. You'd need 10-12 of those cans, and you don't want to keep spraying until there's nothing but dregs, propellant and spittle. I don't use the last 20 percent of a rattle cans contents hardly ever, often stopping before then. And finally, they aren't consistent in color, can to can.

Go with the biggest automobile paint rattle cans and no smaller.

I didn't think I would need that much and I didn't even think about consistency from one can to the next.

Would DuPont Chromabase work?

Another Idea: Has anyone ever heard of Plutonium G acrylic aerosols?

Krylon and Dupli-Color have very extensive color palettes. Krylon can be found for less than $3 per 12 oz. aerosol. The colors may not be an exact match for original Fender colors, but unless you're trying to build a counterfeit Fender, what does it matter?
