Hey everyone!

I just wanted to let y'all know that I uploaded my recently recorded version of Junior Walker's "Shotgun". I came up with this while messing around in the home studio. After listening to it in the car for a few days, I decided it would be cool to put it on my MySpace page for the world to hear.

Yup - that's me on bass, drums, and vocals too. Please excuse the drumming!

Click on the "Timothy Jon Lamb" link at the bottom.

Please tell me what ya think!

Mad? Nah. Weekend crowds are sparse here.

Very cool, Trag. Nice take and great playing. Pretty sharp recording skills there, too.

Thanks a lot! Do you really think so? I just raced through it. I think the drums were one take. As a matter of fact, I think it ALL was one take! I didn't try to pretty up anything, except for adding a pinch of 'verb later.

I gave up long ago on trying to compete with other peoples home recordings. I don't have the gear, the knowledge, or the money to buy anything more than what I already have. So I just do the best I can with what I have and live with it. I'm always hoping that my performances will outweigh the recording deficiencies, but I may be B.S.ing myself there too.

Thank you very much for listening!

I liked your stuff.

So you are saying, you don't have a band, that these songs are all home-brewed? They sound pretty good to me. (I can usually spot the flaws right away- too bassy, guitar too loud-- something that screams "amateur"- Not so with your stuff)

I liked the slide on "Dust My Broom"

Just listened to "Spaghetti Western" too- another good track!

I suck at drums. Nobody ever lets me play. I might as well go eat worms.

Your stuff sounds great. Keep posting.

Thanks to all first of all!

Yup, that's all me - no band. Unfortunately I have to do much of my mixing with headphones. Right now I'm monitoring through an old boombox with a BIG bass boost - so I have to watch out for that. Once I get it sounding like I THINK it should, I'll burn a CD-R and drive around listening in the car for awhile. Then I'll try it over friends stereos, etc. So it can literally take weeks and weeks before I finally give up and say "Good enough".

The drums were miked with two overhead Audix I-5's going straight to the mixer. The bass was run through my Morley JD10 on "Shotgun". The other electric Blues tracks bass parts were just straight to the mixer.

Hey JamonHamon! Good to see ya!

I still have the B1uesboy, and I've used it for some home recording - depending upon how adventurous I'm feeling.

All of the electric guitars that you hear on all of these tracks are Teles going into the JD10 straight to the mixer - except for "Shotgun", which is my trusty old Rat going into the JD10 for the intro solo, and the middle solo. The last solo near the end is the JD10 with the Rat turned off, which makes for a nice comparison. Notice how the basic tone is the same - but the Rat just gives a little more hair? I've never found another Rat that'll do that.

Hopefully I'll be able to put up some originals that are recorded with REAL amps miked up, but I did all of these tracks really quickly and on the fly.

Thanks so much for your kind words!

Oh and BTW - "Spaghetti Western" is a drum machine (hangs head in shame).

Why thank you refin! As I said before - that means a lot coming from you. You're quite a mighty fine picker yourself y'know!

I just listened to "Desert Wishbone", and was REALLY impressed! If you don't mind - I may have to home-roll a CD-R of your stuff to blast in my car.

No greater promotional tool exists than to have someone blasting your stuff at stop lights across America!
