A resale store near me has, an old Gretsch amp with: a 6 X 11 speaker, 5Y3, one 6V6, two preamp tubes. Single volume, tone and single control tremelo. It's really clean.

When was it made?

What is it worth?

How do the oval speakers sound?

If I wire it for an extention speaker, do I reduce the value?

Thanks,
Tim

There are a few different styles of gretsch amps but the book says the 11x6 speakers stopped in the early 60's.
The only one listed with one elliptical speaker is a model 6152 and it says it has trem and verb. The listings are not complete for sure but it gives an idea.

None listed are worth a whole lot except the ones that are matched as a set for a guitar. It says the 6152 is 5 watts and in the 5-$600 range with the elliptical speaker. That value would be in excellent shape and I know for sure thats pretty high.

Collectability and value are in the eyes and ears of the beholder though.

You could add a speaker tap that could be removed and that doesnt affect the amp at all by soldering in some leads.

Valco made those. Value? Same as a comparable Supro/Valco.

Thanks for the info. I know that I could get it at a good price. But I don't really have a use for something that small.

I play in a couple bands, and I use 100 watt heads, most of the time. For practice, I've been useing a Peavey Studio Pro. I've been thinking of replaceing it with a 15 watt, Blackheart Hansome Devil, when they come out.
