Saw this in the Billy Gibbons clips, playing on of these, and the tone was great! Apparently just announced at NAMM, looks to be a limited run of 100 and they include SD BG Esquire pickup, with special switching (described below) - any idea how to duplicate this set-up?

3-Position Blade with Custom Eldred-Esquire Wiring:
Position 1. Special Cap. Across Entire Pickup, (for )
Position 2. Volume Control with Cap. and Tone Control with Cap.
Position 3. Volume Control Only No Cap., No Tone Control

I know Shades is building an Esquire with a BG Esquire pickup and had a cool wiring diagram that sounds similar - not sure about the cap on the whole pickup (#1) and how to get no cap on vol. pot (#3). Is this wiring named after Mike Eldred of the Custom Shop maybe? Has it been used on other guitars in the past?

I want one of these hotties real bad so I am looking at selling a few guitars I can do without to finance one of these, probably in black to be opposite my blonde MIM Esquire reissue. But if I cant swing it, I hope to convert my MIM to match as close as possible... Any suggestions on the wiring would be appreciated!

To get back to the subject of this thread ........ the '50s Top Bound Relic Esquire. I wonder how much these will sell for. Fender hasn't updated they price list yet. They'll be available in a lot of colors ....see below. If I were getting one I'd get something more interesting than black. I'm guessing the price will be around $2500-$3000 .......... street price.

(024) Lake Placid Blue,
(025) Ice Blue Metallic,
(026) Teal Green Metallic,

$3399 is the ticket price I saw one for in Canada. Cool looking guitar!

I promise that you'll like the Duncan BG lead stack. The wiring is what makes the difference when it comes to an Esquire. There is no useless bassy tone from the schematic that I followed.
