Why are some thread titles in bold?

I've always been curious as to why some thread titles appear in bold.

I've also noticed that the 'boldness' can come and go on the same title at different times!!

I've not given it a lot of thought but I've never been able to figure out what the bold indicates.

Thanks. So it indicates that since I last had a look at the thread there has been a new post added.

So does that mean that I might see a different array of thread titles that are 'bolded' (or not) compared to other members, depending on where each of us have last visited??
