I'm swapping out my speaker on my 5F2 clone and was wondering if I need to get a 8 ohm speaker or 4 ohm. I checked the Fender field guide and there is a question mark under this section... anyone know?
Also, can anyone recommend a good 8" speaker? I'm thinking about getting a Jenson P8R but am open to suggestions..
Thanks!

Put a meter lead on each speaker terminal of the existing speaker, set the meter to ohms and see what it reads. If it's in the 6-7 ohm range, it's an 8 ohm. If it's less than 4 ohms, it's a 4 ohm.

a good idea, unfortunately I don't have a meter...

Checking the field guide won't help at all since it's a clone. The clone builder could have used a different OT than was stock on originals.
Since you don't have a meter, can you get some photos of the output transformer for us? It should be the smaller of the two transformers.
A photo might not help either, since some OTs have multiple impedance taps for different speaker setups.
I'd recommend getting a MMeter regardless, but if not, you may want to contact the guys who built your clone for impedance/load questions..

I actually just emailed him... glad I kept his address. If I don't hear from him I'll upload a picture.
I should probably get a meter down the line here too....
