I agree. It's because concurrent users has risen steadily over the past year. This is bogging down the server. 2 years ago concurrent users averaged 150. A year ago concurrent users averaged 250 and today concurrent users averages 380 to 400.

I'm already on it and working with our webhost on new server options. At this point I expect to double our capacity by adding a 2nd server... only not a web server but a database server. Currently the database activity that the site generates is slowing down the webserver. Off loading the database will really speed things up.

However, there is a catch. It will double the monthly cost. Again. It's only been 14 months since we doubled the server capacity the last time.

Thanks for the info .

Good to see the membership is very strong .

I certainly have no problem with a few extra donations throughout the year to help cover costs .

Little question .

I notice we are averaging a large number of guest visits .

Would limiting the forum to one section only readable for guests ( perhaps the tele section ) alleviate the problem slightly , and hopefully at the same time encourage people to step down from the shaddows and register / login ?

While this would certainly reduce bandwidth. I don't think it would benefit the growth of the forum, we get so many people that mention in their initial posts that they've lurked for a long time without registering, and learnt a great deal.

I for one, wouldn't want to deny them that.

it's been very slow for me as well for the past couple weeks, but it doesn't keep me away.

I'll kick in some paypal $$s. Let us know when you add the data server.

Strangely, response of the web pages from the TDPRI site was not linear over time in the past year.
I have noticed a sharp increase of the page loading time from the second week of December 2007.
And it did not get better, or worse over time since then.

Assuming most of the TDPRI users are in the US and Europe.
The best time for me to log in Europe is 6 am GMT+1. I have tried on my night shift.
(I am a systech you know:razz: )
Strangely that's not the case; it is as fast (or slow) in the morning as at night when the US members are online.

Paul, could there be something wrong with the server (park) IO.

I wish you all the best, and I am happy to donate some cash for the improved server.
