esteban January 15th, 2008, 02:41 PM Is there a way to quote multiple people in a post, other than copying and pasting? I've seen another forum that I think uses the same software as this one, and there is a plus sign next to the "quote" button that allows one to easily quote more than one person in a reply. The only way I know of to do that here is to copy and paste.
J-man January 15th, 2008, 02:49 PM I believe the only way to do it at the moment is to copy & paste, this wasn't so on the old board software!

There are 3 options ( your own post has 4 ) at the bottom right side of each post .
Press the center one ( with speech marks and +) for every post you wish to quote , then , press post reply .
Kind of like putting a tick in boxes then pressing compare , in some online sales sites .
Hope this helps .
Flat357 January 15th, 2008, 05:19 PM There's a good story about them on Yahoo today.
Couldn't agree more  .
Even those few with a valid claim to be a true original/stylist, started by emulating the style and sound of others.
ALSO ( see above )
You can search various topics from different threads , and each time you read a thread , simply ' tick them off ' so to speak .
THEN
Return to the thread of choice , and again press post reply .
You will see this :
You have selected 2 post(s) that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts.
Selecting the ' quote these posts as well ' enables you to quote from totally different threads , and add those quotes , again , to the thread of your choice , like a ' cross quote '.
I have randomly taken 2 quotes from different threads to give you an example .
The quotes exampled bare no significance to this thread as you can see .
Most guys will be unaware of this facility .
I was a co-webmaster / forum administrator myself up untill about 6 months ago , and though i'm a little rusty with html and php now , there are a few things that I remember about this kind of stuff
Just have a play around with your options to get the most from the options Paul has given you .
You really can't break anything , and certainly nothing that can't be fixed by the admin team .
Practise in this thread to see for yourselves
TelZilla January 15th, 2008, 05:27 PM Hey did this work
EDIT: Obviously, the answer is no.

Hey cool, I can even write between them.

I have wondered this forever. Thanks for posting Esteban.
Flat357 January 15th, 2008, 05:31 PM Incidentally , each time you press on the multiple quote button , it will light up .
Again , i've pressed on all 4 posts before pressing post reply , just to show you in real time .
Any quotes that another poster has used , will not show up once you quote that post .
See my final 2 quotes below , and compare it with the above to see what I mean .
To ' quote ' a quote totally ( hope i'm not confusing the issue ) , you must then copy and paste .

With the old software you could even do nested quotes easily, as in this example. I had to combine the multi-quote button with some manual editing to do it here. In PMs you can still do nested quotes with a built-in command. If you want to try this I suggest playing with the feature in some PMs so you can learn the formatting.
esteban January 16th, 2008, 12:37 AM I never noticed the plus. It's exactly like I described, and how it is on the other forum.
Boy I feel dumb. Thanks anywho.

I had never figured this out either! Don't feel dumb; you're not alone.
